Purified Air ESP – Commercial Kitchen Electrostatic Precipitator
The Purified Air ESP range is specifically designed for commercial kitchen extract systems, providing high-efficiency removal of airborne smoke, oil, grease and fine particulates before the extracted air is discharged.
Using electrostatic precipitation technology, the ESP charges airborne particles and collects them within the filtration cells. This provides filtration efficiency of up to 98%, including particles down to sub-micron levels.
Installing an ESP within a commercial kitchen extraction system can significantly reduce grease and smoke contamination within downstream ductwork and provides an important first stage of filtration before additional odour-control equipment such as activated carbon or UV systems.

How the ESP Works
Cooking processes generate smoke, grease, oil and microscopic airborne particles.
The commercial kitchen canopy initially captures the cooking fumes and the canopy baffle filters remove larger grease particles.
The remaining fine particles then pass through the Purified Air ESP, where they are electrically charged and collected on the internal electrostatic cells.
Captured grease and oil are retained within the unit rather than being allowed to accumulate throughout the downstream ductwork.
For installations where cooking odour also needs to be controlled, the ESP can be installed as the particulate filtration stage ahead of an MFU A1 activated-carbon filtration unit or other suitable
Purified Air odour-control system.

Selecting the Correct ESP
The correct ESP should be selected according to the designed extract airflow, cooking duty and required level of filtration.
Where significant cooking odours are present, an ESP is normally used as the particulate-control stage alongside a suitable secondary odour-control system such as Purified Air MFU A1 activated-carbon filtration.
