UV-O Range
Purified Air UV-O Commercial Kitchen Odour Control System
The Purified Air UV-O range is designed specifically for commercial kitchen extract systems where a high level of cooking odour reduction is required.
Using a combination of UV-C light and ozone technology, the unit treats malodorous gases within the extract ductwork after grease and particulate filtration. When correctly designed and installed, Purified Air states that the UV-O system can achieve odour reductions of up to 90%.
The UV-O system is particularly suited to restaurants, takeaways, commercial kitchens and catering premises located close to residential properties or other sensitive receptors.
How It Works
The kitchen extract first passes through the canopy grease filters and, where specified, an electrostatic precipitator such as a Purified Air ESP.
The UV-O unit then introduces UV-C and ozone treatment into the extract system. The ozone reacts with cooking odours within the downstream ductwork before the treated air is discharged to atmosphere.
For optimum performance, Purified Air recommends allowing approximately 2–6 seconds of reaction/dwell time within the ductwork after the UV-O treatment point.

Product Information
Manufacturer: Purified Air
Product Range: UV-O
Models: UV-O 500 / UV-O 1000
Application: Commercial kitchen odour control
Technology: UV-C and ozone
Electrical Supply: 220–240V, 50Hz
Installation: Commercial kitchen extract ductwork
Installation Requirements
The UV-O system must be correctly sized for the kitchen extract airflow and installed with sufficient downstream ductwork to provide the required ozone reaction time.
The unit must be electrically interlocked with the extract fan so that the UV-O system cannot operate without the extract system running.
Correct access must also be provided for servicing, inspection and lamp replacement.
Maintenance
UV-O systems require routine inspection and servicing. Purified Air's service guidance states that the pre-filter and UV lamps should be replaced annually.
Selecting Your Model
Choose either:
UV-O 500 – suitable for extract airflows up to approximately 5,400 m³/hr
UV-O 1000 – suitable for extract airflows up to approximately 9,000 m³/hr
If you are unsure which system is suitable, contact FusionHot Ltd with your extract airflow and cooking equipment details and we can advise on the correct filtration arrangement.
